The defense ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have agreed to coordinate actions in case of a threat. The decision was taken at a today’s consultation of Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Defense Minister of Kyrgyzstan Abibilla Kudaiberdiev and Defense Minister of Tajikistan Sherali Khairulloyev, ITAR-TASS reports referring to the press service of Kyrgyz defense officials.
"During the meeting, participants discussed the prospects for military and military-technical cooperation and exchanged views on regional security issues,” the press-service said.
In particular, they discussed the issues of joint consultations in case of emergencies that threaten one of the parties. Leaders of the defense departments of the three countries agreed on the need" to conduct joint exercises and training with the involvement of the military special forces "and" to develop mechanisms for a comprehensive military cooperation and to provide each other with military-technical assistance." All these actions will be aimed “to strengthen the confidence measures in the military field and coordinate efforts to counter new challenges and threats to regional security."
