Russia denies its involvement in the incident on the border between Georgia and South Ossetia

Russian border guards were not involved in the arrest of Georgian citizens on the border between Georgia and South Ossetia, when two people were injured, said Russian Foreign Ministry.

"As we know, at eight a.m. on May, 18 the South Ossetian border patrols in the area of the gorge Cholto detained a group of young citizens of Georgia who had illegally crossed the border for a looking for a herb of dzhondzholi. After the arrest of this group the South Ossetian - I emphasize, the South Ossetian and not Russian - guards continued to patrol and encountered another similar group who illegally crossed the border, "-said Russia's permanent representative to the OSCE, Anvar Azimov at  the meeting of Council of the organization.
