EU extends sanctions against Iran

EU foreign ministers added nearly 100 new points to the list of companies and individuals affected by the sanctions against Iran at a meeting in Brussels.

The new restrictions were a reaction to the failure of negotiations with Tehran on nuclear issues, reports Reuters.

Negotiations with Iran on freezing its nuclear program in exchange for technology and free trade were again stopped. Tehran insists that its nuclear programs are of exclusively peaceful character.

Iran also plans to introduce sanctions against the United States for "violating human rights". The state wants to respond to the U.S. and EU for long-term regime of restrictions on Iranian companies and individuals.
