Russian president Dmitry Medvedev had a phone conversation with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad. The Syrian leader assured the Russian president that the Syrian government is starting reforms and is ready to secure people's rights, RIA Novosti cites the Kremlin's press service.
The Russian president announced Russia's official line on the Syrian crisis and said he believes that al-Assad's administration will manage to solve the problem.
Bashar al-Assad said the Syrian government is doing its best to overcome the current crisis and secure the democratic rights of the people. At the same time, al-Assad underlined that he will not allow radicals and religious fundamentalists to come to power in the country.
