Russian President to discuss energy issues in Turkey

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will discuss in Turkey today issues of energy and trade-economic cooperation. As reports PRIME-TASS he arrived in Ankara on Wednesday at the invitation of Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
The Turkish Energy Ministry has announced that it expects to sign a memorandum on nuclear power plant construction. The Russian project provides for the construction of four energy blocks with a total power more than 5 GWt.
Cooperation in the sphere of energy is a substantial part of Russian-Turkish relations. The joint implementation of energy projects such as the pipelines "Blue Stream -2", "South Stream" and "Samsun-Djeihan" are very promising with regard to bilateral energy cooperation.
Moreover it is expected that Gazprom and Botas will sign an agreement on gas supplies to Turkey, note local media. During the visit more than 20 agreements will also be signed on transportation, agriculture, energy, education and tourism.
