Putin to be informal leader of All-Russian People's Front

Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister and leader of the United Russia
Party, will become the informal leader of the All-Russian People's
Front he initiated, RIA Novosti cites Putin's press-secretary Dmitry
Peskov.

Peskov clarified that the front itself is an informal organization.

Sergey Neverov, Secretary of the United Russia Presidium, said that
the front will most likely be an unregistered organization.

Putin was not an informal member of the United Russia Party at the
parliamentary polls in 2007, yet he was leading the electoral list of
the party and brought it to victory. He joined the party as its
chairman in 2008.

Vladimir Putin announced establishment of the front at an
interregional conference of United Russia in Volgograd in early May.

The People's Front will consist of public organizations that share
views of the United Russia. Putin said that, most importantly,
applicants for the front should do real work.
