Krasnodar Territory will start collecting barley on June 15, head of
the planting section of the Department for Agriculture Economy and
Processing Industry, Saava Shevel, said at a Sochi-Moscow video
conference on the Russian food market on May 30, RIA Novosti reports.
This year the region reduced the size of fields for barley and
increased them for corn, amounting to about 1.5 million hectares.
Despite reduction of barley fields by 12,000 hectares, the region
expects to collect about 940,000 tons. Krasnodar Territory collected 1
million tons of barley in 2010.
