Germany protests incident with Merkel's plane in Iran

The German Foreign Ministry has summoned the Iranian ambassador to
hand over a protest against the canceling of permission for German
Chancellor Angela Merkel's flight over Iran, RIA Novosti reports.


Iran temporarily canceled the permission for Merkel's plane to cross
the country on Tuesday morning. Merkel was heading to the Indian
capital New Deli with government members and major business officials.


Iran canceled the permission when the plane reached the border. The
aircraft was forces to circle around Turkey for two hours. After talks
between Germany, Iran and Turkey, new permission was given.


German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle commented in his statement
that it is disrespectful to Germany.


Reuters said that the incident was caused by coordination problems
between Iran and Germany. German press-secretary of government Steffen
Zeibert refused to comment on the incident.
