Deputy foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have met at the 3rd annual session organized by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy of Central Asia in Ashkhabad today, CA-News reports.
Turkmenistan.ru reported that the sides discussed topical issues of expanding regional cooperation, interaction of the UN Regional Center with Central Asian states in consolidation of joint efforts against threats to stability and sustainable development in the region.
The deputy ministers were presented with information on the work of the center in 2010 and determined priority trends of work this year. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on security and the center’s new program for 2012-2014.
They discussed ways to control trans-border crime, extremism and drug smuggling, development of the situation in Afghanistan, situation in Kyrgyzstan and management of natural resources and ecology.
