Haleh Sahabi, a daughter of the chairman of the Iranian Opposition National Religious Activists Council, one of opposition leaders of the country Ezzatollah Sahabi, died at the funeral of her father, Trend reports.
Iranian media reported about the cause of Haleh Sahabi's death. Some media reported that Sahabi died as a result of an attack by the security forces on the funeral ceremony.
Sahabi had diabetes and she died as a result of a heart attack, the Mehr agency reported. The same information states that the security forces and participants in the funeral ceremony clashed. Three people
were arrested.
Sahabi died at 2:10 tonight in Modarres hospital in Tehran. He had suffered a heart attack and lapsed into a coma on April 29.
Sahabi began his political activities in 1953. Before and after the Iranian Islamic Revolution, he spent a total of 15 years in prison. Sahabi is one of the founders of the Party of Liberation Movement of Iran. After the Iranian Islamic Revolution he served as chairman of the Budget and Planning Organization of Iran and was an Iranian MP. Sahabi was arrested after the 2009 presidential elections in Iran. He was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment.
Sahabi's daughter, Haleh Sahabi, was an activist for women's rights. Last year she was arrested in front of her home. She was temporarily released to attend the funeral ceremony of her father.
