Iran and Armenia drift together

Iran sees no obstacles in maximum development of ties with Armenia,
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said at a meeting with Armenian
Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan, Iran News
reports.


Ahmadinejad ordered the government to augment development of relations
with Armenia.


The president said that the two states have old historic and cultural
origins. He expressed hope that his visit to Armenia will contribute
to improving ties.


Movsisyan noted that their ties benefit the whole region. The Armenian
minister is currently on a visit to Iran for the 10th session of the
Armenian-Iranian inter-governmental commission. Movsisyan and Iranian
Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi signed a memorandum on cooperation
in energy, water supplies, oil and gas transport and electricity.


Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to visit Armenia on
June 6-8 to improve ties between the two states.
