North Caucasus flag raised on Mount Everest

Abdul-Hakim Olmezov has reached the top of Mount Everest twice. He
raised the flag of the Russian Congress of Caucasian Peoples, the fund
for support of development of the youth of Karachay-Cherkessia
Elbrusoid and five repressed peoples: the Ingush, Chechens, Karachens,
Balkarians and Kalmyks.


He informed the Executive Committee of the RCCP and the President of
the Elbrusoid Fund, Aliy Totorkulov, about his achievement on May 20,
2011. Olmezov was met at Domodedovo airport on May 31.


The young people that arrived to welcome him performed national
dances. The hero was awarded with the national drink — Ayran. The head
of the RCCP committee for youth affairs, Sultan Togonidze, said that
the arrival of Olmezov had caused excitement among young people.
