An agreement has been reached on the peacekeeping forces in
Nagorno-Karabakh. They will not consist of regional states or co-chair
states, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said on
Tuesday.
The minister said that peacekeepers are part of the basic principles
of conflict settlement.
The basic principles were determined at the G8 summit in Canada:
Armenian forces must leave the occupied territories, all roads and
communication must be reopened, territories need to be restored,
forced migrants must be returned and accommodated, he said.
Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov said that results
should be expected in the near future.
US co-chair Robert Bradtke said that the MG is aimed at peaceful
settlement of the conflict, which can be achieved through regular
meetings.
French co-chair Bernard Fassier sees the need for activating talks
between Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve the issue.
