Co-chairs of OSCE MG give details on meeting in Kazan

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Igor Popov (Russia), Robert
Bradtke (USA) and Bernard Fassier (France)  - and the personal
representative of the OSCE chairman, Andrzej Kasprzyk, held a press
conference in Hankendi today, 1news.az reports.


Fassier said that a joint declaration was passed at the G8 summit in
Deauville, which underlines the commitment to peaceful means of
settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The document stresses the need
for approval of the basic principles.


Bradtke talked about the recent visits of the Azerbaijani and Armenian
foreign ministers to Washington and discussions with Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton.


Popov reminded the press conference that Moscow hosted a meeting of
foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia with Russian Foreign
Minister Sergey Lavrov on April 22, a meeting to be followed by a
summit in Kazan.


Popov said that the Madrid Principles are undergoing updates. A
project has been developed. Bernard Fassier added that the latest
version of the principles was discussed in Sochi three months ago. The
first version was developed in late 2007.
