Azerbaijani Defense Ministry discusses cooperation prospects with Afghanistan

Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel-General Safar Abiyev has taken
part in a meeting of defense ministers of non-NATO states supporting
the operation in Afghanistan. The meeting was held at NATO
headquarters in Brussels, Trend reports.


The ministers discussed the International Security Assistance Force
(ISAF) in Afghanistan. They exchanged views on security in
Afghanistan.


A mission was approved to support supremacy of law.


Abiyev met James Appathurai, the NATO Special Representative for the
South Caucasus and Central Asia. They discussed Azerbaijani-NATO
relations, improvement of cooperation and support of ISAF.


They exchanged views on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Abiyev met Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich and discussed defense
cooperation between their states.
