The CSTO Secretariat and the Regional Counter-Terrorism Structure of
the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have signed a cooperation
protocol. The document was signed by CSTO Secretary General Nikolai
Bordyuzha and Director of the SCO RCTS Executive Committee Janibek
Jumanbekov, RIA Novosti cites the press-secretary of the CSTO Vladimir
Zaynetdinov as saying.
The organizations will cooperate in the fight against terrorism,
separatism, extremism, financing of terrorism, drugs and trans-border
crime. Officials will be appointed for coordination of the protocol.
The sides will exchange information, documents and recommendations.
They will establish joint working groups for key issues.
Bordyuzha believes that the protocol will contribute to fighting
terrorism in Central Asia.
The CSTO consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia,
Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The SCO RCTS is aimed at coordination and cooperation of structures
against terrorism, extremism and separatism. The SCO consists of
Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
