European Parliament supports territorial unity of Azerbaijan

The OSCE Minsk Group on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process
demonstrates efficiency, US co-chair of the group Robert Bradtke says,
Trend reports.

The French co-chair, Bernard Fassier says that the EU plays a key
role in settling the conflict.

The leaders of the OSCE MG states urged Azerbaijan and Armenia at the
summit in Deauville to take the final steps to approve the basic
principles. The co-chairs have been trying to achieve success since
2009.

The co-chairs, from Russia, France and the USA, are striving for a
quick settlement of the conflict. They approved the Madrid principles:
the return of Nagorno-Karabakh under the control of Azerbaijan,
determination of the status of the territory, the preservation of a
link between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and the return of refugees
and forced migrants.

President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek has recently visited
Azerbaijan. He said that the EU supports Azerbaijani territorial
unity.

Peter Semnebi said the new EU Special Envoy to the South Caucasus to
be appointed in September would help to settle the conflict. He was in
the post for 5 years.

The European Union is ready to join the Nagorno-Karabakh peace
process, Miroslav Lajcak, head of the EU diplomatic service for
Russia, the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans, told the European
Parliament on Wednesday.

He reminded the parliament that it will contribute to the efforts of
the OSCE Minsk Group. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict affects the EU, he
said.
