Armenian peacekeepers to secure Mazar-i-Sharif airport

81 Armenian peacekeepers are located at the Mazar-i-Sharif military
base. They started service on Tuesday under German command. They will
secure the Mazar-i-Sharif airport and patrol control posts.

The Armenian Parliament ratified the agreement on increasing the
peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan from 45 to 130 servicemen and
prolongation of their presence to December 31, 2012.

Another peacekeeping group has been serving under German command at
Kunduz since 2010. A deal on the peacekeeping operation was signed in
October 2009.
