Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso have had a joint press-conference in Brussels, Trend reports.
Barroso said that that they talked on the Eastern Partnership, European neighbourhood policy and democracy in Azerbaijan. The official said that he saw economic progress in Azerbaijan during the visit. He noted the role of declaration on the Southern Corridor in Baku.
Jose Manuel Barroso said that it is time to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict of Azerbaijan and Armenia. He also congratulated the Azerbaijani singers that had won the Eurovision-2011 contest.
President Ilham Aliyev underlined that refugees will soon return home. He noted that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for the EU. Special attention was paid to energy issues.
The Azerbaijani president visited President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek in Belgium and EU President Herman Van Rompuy. They discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani-EU ties, cooperation within the Eastern Partnership and the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
