The police said that the detention of members of the Georgian Party
had been a result of the party’s criminal activities, News Georgia
reports.
Sozar Subari, Chairman of the Georgian Party and former Ombudsman,
said that the police had arrested the head of a regional organization
of the party in Eastern Georgia, Levan Terashvili, on Wednesday. His
brother Kakhaber Terashvili and two activists were detained on Tuesday
night.
The police initiated a case into formation of an illegal armed
formation. The police have video and audio materials on speeches by
members of the group made in May.
One of the leaders of the Georgian Party, Levan Gachechiladze, left
the party in early June due to disagreements within the organization.
Secretary General of the party Koka Guntsadze, Khakha Mikaiya and
Levan Chikvaidze left the party as well.
