Prosecutor General in North Caucasus Federal District urges businessmen to report cases of extortion by militants

Participants in illegal armed groups in the North Caucasus use local
businessmen as sources of financing and engage in racketeering, the
head of the Prosecutor General's Office in the North Caucasus Federal
District, Artem Melnikov, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Melnikov said that militants use different methods in order to extort
money from businessmen, particularly by setting their properties on
fire.

A representative of the Prosecutor General's Office urged the
businessmen to hand such cases over to the law enforcement agencies.
