President of Russia ratifies treaty on state border with Azerbaijan

 

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a law ratifying a treaty between Moscow and Baku, and securing the line of the reciprocal land boundary from the point of junction of borders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia to the Caspian Sea, RIA Novosti reports.

 

This line corresponds to the former administrative border between Dagestani ASSR and Azerbaijan.

 

The agreement was signed in Baku on 3 September 2010, Russia became the first country with which Azerbaijan has signed an agreement on the state border.

 

The border land between Russia and Azerbaijan is 284 km. The total length of the Russian state border is about 60 thousand kilometers.
