The Central Electoral Commission of Abkhazia has registered an
initiative group promoting Alexander Ankvab for president. He is
currently the acting president of Abkhazia, RIA Novosti reports.
President Sergey Bagapsh died on May 29. Presidential elections were
set for August 26.
Candidate registration will end on July 17. Electoral lists will be
composed on August 16. Voters will be informed 10 days prior to the
voting. Polling sheets will be ready on August 24-25.
