Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev warned that "fat" staff
will be redundant. Georgian Interior Minister Georgy Baramidze made
the same statement several years ago, when President Mikheil
Saakashvili had started the police reform, Interfax reports.
Head of the parliament committee for security Vladimir Vasiliyev was
at a meeting with Nurgaliyev, he said that police officers that meet
the demands have a chance for re- qualification.
The reform in Georgia was aimed at improving police efficiency. The
reform had positive results. The police of Georgia hires young people,
providing them with high wages. They do not take bribes and have a
feeling of duty and honour, Saakashvili said.
