North Ossetia proposes obligatory genetic registration of law-enforcers

North Ossetian Interior Minister Artur Ahmetkhanov has proposed
genetic registration for law-enforcers, RIA Novosti cites head of the
press-service of the ministry Alla Akhlopova as saying.

Genetic registration will give individual information on the DNA to
simplify identification.

Ahmetkhanov announced the proposition at a session of the
counter-terrorism commission. He wants to initiate talks on the issue
at the Russian Parliament.

The law on state genetic registration was passed in 2008. Convicts
jailed for grave crimes undergo obligatory genetic registration.

still missing. 235 out of 423 dead have been identified.

A laboratories for genetic analysis is planned to open in the republic
in 2014, as well as an expert crime center. Chairman of the
counter-terrorism commission and head of the republic, Taymuraz
Mamsurov, and other members of the commission approved the initiative.
