Today in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, the police impeded a
protest demonstration being held by the opposition and detained almost
all the participants, forcing them into local buses, KavkazskiyUzel reports.
The political alliance Azadlıq (Freedom) planned to demonstrate for freedom of assembly, democratic
parliamentary elections and for the government to report on progress
in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. The police were blocking people going to the
scene of the demostration, saying that the meeting was unauthorised.
