Armenia is marking its Constitution Day. It is a day off, News Armenia reports.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the country on the day.
The president underlined that adoption of the constitution marks
devotion to building a social, legal and democratic state.
Sargsyan underlined that great work was done and more energy is needed
to continue democratic reforms.
Armenia adopted the Constitution in a referendum on July 5, 1995.
Amendments were introduced in November 2005. They allow the president
to hand part of his power to other state structures, as wel as
granting the parliament more power.
The Constitutional Court of Armenia will hold celebrations tomorrow.
The chairman of the Constitutional Court, Gagik Arutyunyan, will make
a speech about the supremacy of the Constitution.
