Medvedev calls for state defense orders to be sorted out

Russian president f Dmitry Medvedev urged defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov to report within three days on whether the state defense order for 2011 should be implemented, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, the head engineer of the Moscow Institute of Thermotechnics, Yuri Solomanov, stated that the state defense order would probably not be implemented, as the Defense Ministry had postponed contracts on armament production.

“Solve the problem. If the information on failure of the state defense order implementation is true, administrative measures should be taken against the people who are responsible for it,” Medvedev said.

“If it is not true, we have to deal with those who are spreading panic.I permit you to dismiss those people,” he told Serdyukov.

The defense minister nodded.
