Russia and Georgia to negotiate WTO membership in late July

Russia will have another round of talks on joining the World Trade
Organization (WTO) with Georgia, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino
Kalandadze said, Trend reports.


The previous talks were held in Geneva on July 8-9. Georgia was
represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze and the advisor
of the prime minister for foreign economic ties, Tamar Kovziridze.
Experts from the customs services were also present.


Russia started the WTO talks on June 2. Switzerland requested a break
in the talks. Georgia and Russia reopened talks on the WTO in March
2011, supported by Switzerland. Tbilisi wants legalization of customs
offices on the Abkhaz and South Ossetian borders.
