Russia is in favor of the strengthening of the role of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in conflict resolution, Russia’s OSCE envoy Anvar Azimov said on Wednesday.
“Unlike our partners, Russia suggests proceeding along the path of the reinforcement of consensual principles in the work of the OSCE, first of all in the field of crisis resolution, and also in the working out and adoption of united principles in the resolution of conflicts,” he said, speaking at a security forum.
He also said that Russia envisioned “The widening of OSCE possibilities in the field of the prevention of conflicts and crisis regulation via a restart and a renewal, and where necessary a further development, of the potential of the OSCE created over the last two decades.”
In connection with this, Azimov said it was necessary to undertake a comprehensive review of the anti-crisis measures contained in the 1999 Charter of European Security.
