Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, in forming the Customs Union and Common Economic Space, aim to establish a new pole of the world economy, Prime Minister Putin stated.
“We have wide-scale objectives, and their implementation should change the configuration of Eurasian space. The Customs Union can lead to the establishment of a Eurasian Economic Union,” he said.
Putin stated that Belarus, which was called “the assembly hall” in Soviet times, has all the capabilities, as it is situated close to the EU.
The Common Economic Space is to be launched on January 1st, 2012, RIA Novosti reported.
