The political system of the country is moving, but it still needs improving. Moreover, the country needs decentralization, according to President Medvedev.
“We have too centralized a country,” he said, “There are more than a thousand federal structures in the regions.”
The President stated that the system of inter-budgetary relations should also be modernized. Municipalities don't have enough resources. He urged the leaders of the parliamentary parties to make proposals.
“It is obvious that the majority of the economic and social targets should be implemented by the regions, rather than by the Kremlin, the parliament or the government,” Medvedev said.
The president expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the parliamentary parties for fruitful work during the spring session of the State Duma, RIA Novosti reports.
