Baku will persuade Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh that it will
be more beneficial to join Azerbaijan than split, Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said, Interfax Azerbaijan reports.
The minister said that they have not formulated arguments, facts and benefits.
Mammadyarov noted that principles of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict are "quite clear". Armenian forces need to leave the occupied
region within certain terms and give Nagorno-Karabakh autonomy. It
will allow opening of communications, introduction of peacekeepers and
return of refugees.
The foreign minister underlined that the world society has great
experience in settling interethnic territorial disputes, including
Aland Islands, Eastern Tirol, Trieste and other.
The principles of settling the conflict are a single plan, a road map.
The problem can be settled stage-by-stage, by improving trust, opening
talks with communities, Mammadyarov noted.
