The European Union will put more pressure on the regime of Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi, President of the European Council Herman Von Rompuy said, RIA Novosti reports.
The post-conflict stage in Libya has already started. Split and uncontrolled Libya does not meet anyone’s interests, Rompuy said at a meeting with Mahmoud Jibril, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Transitional Government of Libya, in Brussels.
President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso noted the rising authority of the transitional government.
Barroso assured that the EU will continue political and economic support for the transitional government and efforts to resolve the conflict in Libya.
