Azerbaijani leader hopes to solve Baku villages problems by 2013

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the Yeni Surakhany village
of the country's Surankahn District to observe socio-economic
development.


Chief executive of Baku Gajibala Abutalybov told Aliyev about the work
going on. Yeni Surakhany is concluding asphalt laying of 150,000
square meters. Over 300 lamp posts were set. Sewer systems were
reconstructed.


Aliyev met a 74-year old local who noted the intensive work in the
area. He said that he had met Heydar Aliyev in 1999. The local asked
Ilham Aliyev to restored school N101, which had a military hospital in
1941-1945. The school was designed for 400 pupils but there are 800
studying. Ilham Aliyev promissed to order the problems to be solved.
Aliyev said that the program for socio-economic development will be
fulfilled by 2013, however the work at Surakhany village will be
completed even earlier.

The president reminded that their national leader came to power 42
years ago. The republic had one of the lowest position in the rating
of soviet republics. Azerbaijan is currently one of the fastest
developing states.


Aliyev visited the Street of July 14 at the center of Yeni Surakhany.
He visited a memorial of Heydar Aliyev. The locals told Aliyev that
school N85 needs reconstruction. The president said that they will
build a new school building for 480 pupils. The street where the
school is had 12,000 square meters of asphalt laid and 200 lamp posts
built. The school was built in 1883. It has been used as a school
since 1902. The school was designed for 260 children but over 800 are
studying. Ilham Aliyev took part in laying the first stone of the new
school together with the local citizens.
