Chairman of the Fund of National Welfare Samruk-Kazyn, Timur
Kulibayev, says that calling him the most likely successor of the
Kazakh president, as the president's advisor has done, is
inappropriate, KazTAG reports.
The president's advisor on political affairs, Yermuhamet Yertysbayev,
said in an interview with Kommersant that Kazakh President Nursultan
Nazarbayev's son-in-law, Timur Kulibayev, is considered the most
likely successor.
He also said that Nazarbayev is in a hospital in Germany. Media later
reported that his visit to Germany is part of the president's medical
examination schedule, which he undergoes twice a year. President
Nazarbayev was on vacation on July 11-21, 2011.
