Garun Kurbanov, head of the Dagestani president’s press service, and his driver have been killed in Makhachkala, RIA Novosti reports.
Unidentified assailants opened fire at his Toyota Camry on Montashev Street at 08.15.
Kurbanov Garun Magomedovich was born at Kunki village of Dakhadayevsky District of the Dagestani Soviet Republic in 1962. He graduated at the Dagestani State Medical Institute in 1984 and started work Kaspiysk. He had poot-graduate studies at the Dagestani State University and was a senior teacher for History and Theory of Culture in 1991-2000. He was the editor-in-chief of Birzheviye Vesti in 1993-1997 and head of the Agency for Market Communications until 2000.
Kurbanov was the chief specialist of the North Caucasian Territorial Administration of the Ministry for Press, TV and Radio Broadcasting and Mass Communications in 2000-2004. He was director general of the “Dagestan” state agency in 2003 and became the minister of national policy, information and foreign links of Dagestan. He resigned as a minister in 2010. He became the head of the Dagestani president’s press service in March 2010. He is a PhD in Philosophy. He has a wife and three children.
