The commander of the Turkish armed forces, General Ishik Koshaner, has
been dismissed together with several chiefs of land, sea and air
forces, Reuters reports, referring to CNN Turk.
The country’s leadership has not yet given any official explanations.
It is reported that Koshaner accepted the resignation after a private
conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Koshaner resigned after the prime minister asked him to retire,
according to television reports which refer to diplomatic sources.
