The opposition has held rallies in support of refugees in Tbilisi in
front of president’s palace today. One of the organizers of the
meeting is a conservative, Lasha Chkhartishvili, Rosbalt reports.
Lasha Chkhartishvili said that the protesters are demanding fulfilment
of the campaign promise by Georgia's President, Mikhail Saakashvili,
to find shelter for all refugees living in Tbilisi. So far, that
promise, according to Chkhartishvili, has not been fulfiled and the
process of eviction of refugees from Georgia continues.
The refugees have been evicted from the building of a kindergarten and
have not been provided with new housing.
