The governor of Stavropol Territory, Valery Gayevsky, proposed a law
on taxis in the region, Yuga.ru reports.
The parliament of Stavropol Territory adopted a law on painting taxis
yellow on July 14. The law will come into force on January 1, 2012.
Gayevsky said that he had received numerous requests from citizens
with demands for passenger protection. The parliament passed the bill
on July 26, 2011. Taxis were ordered to be repainted by September 1.
The paint job will cost 40,000-120,000 rubles, which is a huge sum for
some people. The parliament was ordered to pass the coming of the law
into force from September 1, 2011, to January 1, 2013.
