The Russian Foreign Ministry called the new US resolution on the
"occupation" of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Russia a "PR exercise"
and a "broken record", adding that it facilitates the development of
the revanchist policy of Tbilisi, Gazeta.ru reports.
"... the claim that Abkhazia and South Ossetia are allegedly occupied
by the Russian Federation has no factual or legal basis. The
statements of the US senators on this issue indicate either ignorance
of international law, or complete disregard of real facts. All this
clearly shows that the resolution was nothing more than a PR
exercise," the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.
The resolution was adopted by the US Senate on Saturday.
