Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev believes that more
attention should be paid to youth in fighting extremism. Young people
are easier to influence and use for nationalistic, religious and
racial crimes, RIA Novosti cites the minister’s speech at the
inter-departmental commission for extremism control.
Minister Nurgaliyev said that off-site sessions will be held in all
federal districts of the country. He proposed carrying out studies of
preferences of young people in music, books and cinema. It is time to
pay more attention to traditions, the interior minister said.
Nurgaliyev underlined that the mass media plays an important role in
preventing extremism. The Internet has become a tool for organizing
extremist and even terrorist acts. Complex measures need to be
developed to limit the operation of such websites and information
exchange, he concluded.
