The Ministry of Education and Science is inspecting the efficiency of
higher education centers in the North Caucasus, some of which may be
closed, Minister Andrey Fursenko said at a session of the government
commission for socio-economic development of the North Caucasian
Federal District, RIA Novosti reports.
The North Caucasus has 67 higher education centers and 61 branches.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin expressed support for the
minister's initiative.
