USA content with START treaty with Russia

The US Assistant Secretary of State for Verification, Compliance, and
Implementation, Rose Gottemoeller, is satisfied with the fulfilment of
the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) with Russia, she said in
Nebraska on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.


There have been 8 inspections of Russia and the USA. The sides are
exchanging information once every half a year.


The new Start deal came into force on February 5, 2011. The new START
deal allows inspections to be held since April 6, 2011.


The total number of warheads should be reduced by a third to 1,550 in
7 years, compared with the older document signed in Moscow in 2002.


The maximum number of warheads is to be reduced twofold.
