Ukraine may terminate gas deal with Russia

The Ukrainian government is considering whether to terminate gas
contracts concluded with Russia in 2009, Business-Georgia reports,
citing Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.

The statement was made during the questioning of the leader of the
"Batkivschina" party, Yulia Tymoshenko on charges of abuse of office
at the conclusion of gas agreements with Russia in 2009.

Azarov expressed his hope that the agreement can be re-negotiated. At
the same time, Azarov said that the Russian side had not commit any
violations yet which could give grounds for breaking the contract.
