Georgian Foreign Ministry discusses problems of Georgian Consulate in Moscow

Following the problems of the Georgian Consulate in Russia Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze met with Switzerland’s ambassador Guenther Baechler in Tbilisi, Trend reports. As Georgian Foreign Ministry told the news agency, the meeting was initiated by the Georgian side.

"The sides discussed the operation of Georgia's Interests Section under Switzerland’s Embassy to Russia in Moscow," the Georgia Foreign Ministry said.

It is already the second day when Georgia's Interests Section Consular Service in Russia is left without electricity. As the Section officials told journalists, power failure has been observed since yesterday.

The Consulate did not give any comments. Explanation is posted on the door of the Georgian Consulate: "Georgia's Interests Section Consular Service temporarily suspended its activity in connection with barriers created by the Russian side".

The Russian side says the Georgian Consulate has debts worth more than one million Russian rubles for municipal services.
