The use of the Gabala radar station in Azerbaijan by Russia doesn’t contradict the security interests of Armenia and improves the situation in the region, the first deputy defense minister of Armenia David Tonoyan said, ITAR-TASS reports.
“Considering the strategic character of Armenian-Russian relations, use of the Gabala radar station by Russia doesn’t contradict the interests of the security of Armenia,” the deputy minister emphasized.
The Gabala radar station is part of the Russian missile defense system. It is located in Azerbaijan. At the end of July the defense minister of Russia, Anatoly Serdyukov, visited Azerbaijan and discussed leasing the Gabala radar station.
