CIS mission starts monitoring Kazakh Senate elections

A CIS mission has started monitoring elections to the Kazakh Senate.
The elections will be held on August 19, RIA Novosti reports.


Kazakhstan invites CIS monitors for presidential and parliamentary
polls and referendums. The mission’s headquarters will start work on
August 11.


Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive
Committee, heads the mission. The monitoring mission consists of
officials from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the Interparliamentary Assembly
of CIS States and the CIS Executive Committee. The mission consists of
68 people.
