Medvedev arrives for informal CSTO summit in Astana

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived on a visit to Astana for
a session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to
discuss the situation in the Middle East and North Africa and the CSTO
zone.


The CSTO consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia,
Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.


The CSTO session is informal. Uzbek President Islam Karimov will be absent.


CSTO Secretary Nikolai Bordyuzha said that they will also discuss
Russian efforts in settling the situation in the regions. However, no
official documents will be approved. The meeting will start in Astana
and move to Borovoye.
