Crimean–Congo hemorrhagic fever threat remains in Dagestan

Dagestan is suffering from the Crimean–Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF),
RIA Dagestan reports.


One infection each was registered in the Untsukulsky and Kizlyarsky
Districts. One died in the Untsukulsky District. The infection is
transmitted by ticks.


The virus has been registered in the Buynaksky, Babayurtovskym
Untsukulsky and Novolaksky Districts.


According to data of August 8, 430 people in 35 administrative
districts asked for medical aid, including 143 children under 14. 46
people including 15 children were hospitalized. 54 people were
infected in the Babayurtovsky District, 59 in Tarumovsky, 45 in
Kizlyarsky, 57 in Makhachkala and 52 in Khasavyurt.


The sanitary-epidemic commission of Dagestan held a session on May 12,
2011. A total of 44 municipal sessions were held on the issue. 40
measures were taken. There were 3,265,575 therapies for cattle and
4,981,229 for small livestock.
